Gymnema Sylvestre: Why Aren't Doctors Using It?

The Hypocratic Oath says: "First, do no harm". With this in
mind, you would think that a herb with such promise as Gymnema
would attract huge attention from doctors, and wide public
acclaim.
You might imagine that the drugs more commonly used to
treat diabetes - clearly a downhill path in the case of insulin
- might sometimes be put aside in favour of a promising remedy
with no side effects.
You might think that intelligent governments would insist on
research being carried out into these promising treatments.
Sadly, practicality kicks in; governements are in power for
only 5 years and doctors are so busy they tend to believe what
the hugely powerful and massively rich drug companies
say.
Public pressure is low because the majority of us who need
to, do not follow the dietary and exercise regime essential to
counteract the low blood problems which affect us.
This may be because:
- a. The case is not put forcibly to us often enough by
someone we respect, and
- b. In general, even if the mind is willing, the body is
often lacking. Let's face it, many of us simply
lack the will power.
Taking Charge Of Your Own Health
So, this is a situation where, if low blood sugar affects
you, you just have to take charge yourself and attack the
problem head on.
The articles on this site give you lots of information to
help you see the true situation - which is, I think you will
agree, quite simple. With the help of Gymnema, and the
dedication to changing your diet for ever - perhaps massively
from what it is now - plus embarking on a thorough exercise
regime, you can improve your body's ability to deal with low
blood sugar hugely.
Yes, it is hard - all that diet and exercise
stuff... but it's just not as tough as being ill is.
Especially as you know that the 'being ill' is only likely
to get worse.
By all means, read the evidence which is available for all
to see on the Internet. Present the evidence to
your doctor - many of whom are decent, fair people and who
are, more and more, willing to give 'the alternatives' a try.
And discuss Gymnema sylvestre
supplementation with them. Take the evidence with you from
some studies. Eg:

of blood glucose in insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.

You Must Take Charge
You must drive the process of you getting
well.
If your doctor doesn't come along with you in
this process, it might be that you should consider a change of
doctor. Find one who is more open minded, and more determined
to listen to you and help you.
After all, to repeat the introduction to this
page, the Hypocratic Oath does state: First do no harm. Some
doctors seem to forget that sometimes, in their desire to push
drugs when better alternatives are available.
In the case of low blood sugar
issues, herbs, dietary change, and exercise can produce
huge benefits for many people in weeks. Investigate, and take
charge.
